Little Greene ‘Yoga for Schools’ Program
LittleGreeneYoga has been working in partnership with Glasgow Education Department since 2006, delivering Yoga courses for schools – Yoga for Primary Schools, Yoga for Secondary Schools and Yoga for Nursery schools encompassing the complete 3 -18yr curriculum.
Courses are tailored to each individual school and age group.
Each class is not just physical but also educational, successfully contributing to the ‘Curriculum for Excellence’ programme.
Classes are offered as part of the School Sport/PE Curriculum, on an after-school club basis or for ‘Health Week’. All courses are structured for progression.
“Veronica has just completed a short five week block of yoga with our S5 girls. It has been a resounding success. The girls have been captivated by the concept of Iyengar Yoga taught by a teacher who is passionate about her subject. Veronica’s instructions are clear with a huge emphasis on attention to detail. Her demonstrations and relevant teaching points reinforce how important posture and breathing are in our daily life. She uses constant praise to motivate the girls and give them a feeling of success and achievement.”
“The yoga session led by Veronica was part of a health week run at Jordanhill School. S1, S2 and S3 pupils selected to participate in the hour and a half session, and they were not disappointed! For most, this was their first experience of yoga, others had a little more experience. Regardless of ability level, all of the girls were engaged, motivated and enjoyed the session. In fact, I think Veronica’s session has encouraged some of the girls to look into opportunities to attend yoga classes nearby. It was definitely a worthwhile and valuable experience”.
