Preparing for birth with Yoga!


This class will help promote physical and mental well-being throughout your pregnancy. You will strengthen and tone muscles to help prepare for an easier birth and faster recovery thereafter.


Proper alignment of the body is extremely important in avoiding and managing physical and physiological stress. Clearly proper alignment of the pelvis and spine will not only influence your life on a daily basis but could also have a huge impact on the birth of the baby! Instructions will be given for correct anatomical alignment throughout the class.

Props (yoga chairs; yoga ropes; yoga blocks & bricks) will be used to gain awareness and achieve better alignment.

Of particular importance at this stage in a woman’s life is hormonal and mental stress. Specific postures will be practiced which help balance the endocrine system and calm the adrenal glands.
Advice will also be given on maintaining good postural alignment, in everyday tasks, which can help alleviate some aches and pains often associated with pregnancy.

There are a great number of Asanas (postures) that can reduce common pregnancy problems such as nausea, morning sickness, constipation, water retention, headache, posture related backache and neck pain.

There are also Asanas that should be avoided during pregnancy, as they can be detrimental to your health. 

Asanas during pregnancy should balance the digestive, urinary systems and blood circulation.


Restorative postures will be performed at the end of each class to reduce the symptoms of fatigue and nervous tension so each expectant mother can enjoy mental and physical health throughout the different stages of her pregnancy.


This class is offered from 2nd trimester till birth (14 weeks onwards). If you are in your 1st trimester and are already an experienced yogi, with no past history of complications during pregnancy, then you will be welcome to join the class before your 2nd trimester (this will have to be discussed with the instructor). 


Veronica is a very experienced and knowledgeable instructor of yoga in pregnancy. She practiced yoga throughout both her pregnancies right up until the birth her children.
